Because of France and Britain's involvement in the Middle East. Positive outcomes were not to be shown. France Britain's involvement lasted from 1914-1946, which created conflict for most of the Middle East's people. However, it was because of the agreement signed in 1916, the Sykes-Picot agreement, that most of the land was given and owned by the British. Further more, even with this amount of land, the British and French continued by dividing up the former Ottoman territories into mandates. A British declaration at this time also promised to pay back the Jews by giving them a homeland in Palestine. This created the major problem. As the French had promised the Arabs independents in the same area, the Israeli Palestinian conflict was was on its way to the start of even more complete chaos. To solve this, the British and the French did nothing but try to hand the problem off to the UN. However, at this point even the UN could not stop the war that had just ignited again to be way worse between the two. Tell this day, there is still conflict, and lots of it.
